Retail: All On Board
A well-known retail brand needed everyone involved in the design and build of their new concept store to be on the same page. Assumptions and misunderstandings lead to wasted time, energy and money. Brownlee Consulting helped the client articulate a brand core and principles, providing clear guidelines to ensure that space design, message and product choice were consistent with the brand intention and that service providers, brand team and store staff were all working to one message.
As a result the brand team felt excited and aligned about their brand and what it stands for and needs to communicate. Service partners were clear about their brief and this streamlined the retail build process, saving money for the client. Store managers felt invigorated and enthusiastic about the brand and how they can bring it to life through the store experience.
Service Sector: From Damp Squib to Explosive Champions
Kick-starting a values-based culture within your organisation can be challenging. A technology services company’s best intentions fizzled out as the voluntary team was beset by lack of commitment, competing agendas, poor communication and team skills, frustrations and … no results. We helped them get re-energized and focused through team development and communication and leadership skills development.
They learnt to understand each other’s strengths and weaknesses as a team, improve communication and team-effectiveness, develop action plans and motivate their plans. They now grow from strength to strength, independently achieving meaningful and self-determined results.
Educational: Renewing your Relevance in the World
Staying relevant is an ongoing process in a world of constant and rapid change. A tertiary Institution department recognised that to stay relevant and meaningful they needed to revise their curriculum. With a 2-day session with Dept. staff, some students and professionals from the field planned, they had to make sure they could get maximum participation and results from the group. Nervous that a room full of strong minds and opinions could be difficult to manage, they brought in Brownlee Consulting to facilitate. We explored issues such as: “What does the world need from us?”, “What is our Purpose?”, “what are our highest aspirations for the future?” and “what do we need to take forward into the curriculum?”.
By the end of the 2 days, the entire group was in consensus about their Departmental relevance, purpose and vision. The curriculum structure was significantly revised and the team walked away with clear focus and tasks to develop the curriculum in detail.
Volunteer Campaign: Phd in Herding Cats
If you have ever tried to get a group of strong-minded professionals from all over the country to work as a volunteer team on an international campaign, with the eyes of your community watching, you probably have a Phd in Cat Herding! This team was under pressure to plan, action and raise funds within a short space of time. Team members felt stressed and unclear about direction and priorities. Brownlee Consulting facilitated a 2 day workshop where we faced the challenges and fears, understood the strengths in the team, created a compelling vision to work towards, and developed a broad time-line action plan with clear roles and responsibilities to action that vision.
The team felt lighter, clear about what they needed to achieve, and more connected to and supported by their team members and their importance of their collective vision.
